Amazing very rare mystery automaton waterwheel industrial clock all in excellent condition. The clock has a stunning solid light oak base which has brass stepped feet, the single fusee movement sits inside the base and provides power to the left bucket track which takes the ball bearings up one by one.
The main clock sits on a thick bronze plate which is fixed to the oak base. The solid oak base is superb quality and has a good grain. The clock is protected by its gilded brass framed glazed display case, all the glass is in excellent condition. Clock is in excellent original condition and has an absolutely amazing display look, a real talking point for any home. Original 6.5 inch diameter clear acrylic chapter ring dial.Roman numerals & original hands. Dial is in excellent original condition. The clock movement is powered by the weight of the ballbearings which sit in the slots around the right hand side of the waterwheel itself.
The weight of the balls turns the movement over just like a spring or weight would do on a standard mechanical clock. The swinging pendulum to back regulates the clock movement for good time keeping. As the ballbearings move round to the bottom they drop onto the track every 60 seconds where they slide down and back round to the buckets on the track on the left hand side ready to repeat they cycle. The buckets on the left turn over every time a ballbearing drops out which is 60 seconds, the buckets turn over with the power of the single fusee movement which sits in the side base. Comes with its original pendulum & new winding key to wind it.
The clock can be hard to set up so you may need a professional to help. The clock measures 17.5 inches high x 16.5 inches wide x 7.5 inches deep. This is a very rare mystery industrial clock which is a perfect investment clock and a beautiful display piece. Looks absolutely fantastic wherever it is displayed and a true talking point of any room. Stunning display clock which will only grow in value.
