Antique Vintage 1940s STEIFF Silk Plush Rare Teddy Bear 17 Hump Back Jointed
All original Steiff 1940s vintage teddy bear. Rare Steiff bear made after WW2 using silk plush fabric with linen paws. Materials used when Mohair and felt was in short supply after WW2. Now these bears are increasingly Rare and hard to find in such good condition for size, condition, age 70 years with attached silver STEIFF button in capital letters. Was made in 1949, has a tilt growler that still works but sometimes needs a little encouragement. Has the wonderful elongated body with very long tapering hand paws of the earlier bears, original glass eyes with some wear to the paint on the back as commonly happens. Original nose, mouth, claw stitching.
Pads are very good for age with some age discolouration but no moth holes. Has a mark on right arm and a few other small areas of slight fur discolouration again this commonly was seen on these bears fur. Silk plush 95% coverage is really good for age of bear with a slight wear around muzzle and on the back of one heel. Rare sought after and highly collectable in such exceptional condition.
